Dr. Zhenyu Zhong's lab at theDepartment of Immunology, University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, iscurrently welcoming applications for multiple postdoctoral fellow positions (https://labs.utsouthwestern.edu/zhong-lab).Leveraging state-of-the-art biomedical technologies and relevant animal modelsof human disease, the Zhong lab is dedicated to unraveling novel fundamentalmechanisms underlying inflammation – from its initiation and propagation to itstermination when no longer required. Additionally, the lab aims to comprehendhow inflammation dysregulation contributes to the development of devastatingdisorders, including chronic liver disorders, cancer, and degenerativediseases.
Over the past decade, Dr.Zhong has made fundamental contributions to establishing mitochondria as the'signaling hub' for innate immune activation. His recent work has solved alongstanding question of how obesity induces chronic liver inflammation – a keypathogenic switch licensing transition from benign fatty liver to metabolic-dysfunctionassociated steatohepatitis (MASH) and hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Dr.Zhong's research findings have been published in numerous high-impact journals, including Nature, Cell, Immunity, Nature Immunology, Cancer Cell, CellMetabolism, Science Translational Medicine, Nature Communications, and Trendsin Immunology, among others.
Dr. Zhong's achievements havebeen recognized with prestigious awards such as the American Association ofImmunologists (AAI) ASPIRE Award, the International Cytokine and InterferonSociety (ICIS) Milstein Young Investigator Award, the NIH MIRA Award, theAmerican Association for the Study of Liver Diseases (AASLD) Pinnacle ResearchAward, the CPRIT Faculty Recruitment Award, the CPRIT Individual InvestigatorResearch Award, and the University of Texas Rising Stars Award, among others.
The lab is actively seekinghighly motivated postdoctoral fellows with diverse research backgrounds inimmunology, cell biology, biochemistry, hepatology, cancer, and/orcomputational biology. Prospective candidates holding a Ph.D. or M.D./Ph.D. ina related biomedical field are strongly encouraged to apply. Salaries will becommensurate with the current NIH scale, including comprehensive healthinsurance coverage and other UTSW employee benefits. Interested individuals areinvited to submit their CV and three recommendation letters tozhenyu.zhong@utsouthwestern.edu.
